The Sabbath DayThe Sabbath day, God's day of rest [1] A special day with which we're blessed. [2] Though for our good, God He knew We'd surely fight Him on this too. So a commandment He did make That His Seventh day we do not break. [3] How long will we resist His way And do our will on this His Day? [4] Though from most the truth is sealed God to us His words revealed. [5] To those who know and do obey. God's word is shown to us this day. [6] But God's law is not for us alone. [7, 8] God wills to all man's sins atone. [9] Father help us be a light [10] And always in Your law delight. [2] The sins of man we want no part in. [11] Your law is what we place our heart in. For man's acceptance we sometimes yearn, But from Your law we will not turn. Those of the land to sell may try, But if they come we will not buy. [12] Through Your spirit we are strong [13] Our hearts to You they do belong. [14] Please help us make Your will our own. [15] Bring us before Your Holy throne. [16] Obeying God that is the key To life and love eternally. [17] ________________________________ [1] Genesis 2:2-3 and God rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. [2] Isaiah 58:13 And call the Sabbath a delight [3] Exodus 20:8-10 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. [4] Isaiah 58:13 If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has spoken.
